As far back as 1915 , it was apparent that there was a great need for specially trained men and women to Volunteer their time and effort to assist local police departments for the purpose of aiding in traffic control, crowd control, natural or manmade disasters or civil disorders in their communities. In 1923 a Chapter was issued by the State of Illinois to non-profit public safety organization known as the Illinois Police Reserves. This law enforcement reserves organization was established and formed by high ranking state, county and suburban police officials together with judiciary who served in the Illinois Law Enforcement Community. Today, over eighty-four years later, the active officers are still giving of their dedication to the Illinois Police Reserves, and the municipalities/communities they are asked to serve.
